Did you know that four out of the five globally leading Bitcoin mining pools are located in China, with each holding 5% of the total hash rate? While Bitcoin mining pools are location-independent, Chinese mining pools have been dominating the industry for years.

Interestingly, even after the Chinese government’s crackdown on Bitcoin mining, most Chinese BTC miners who relocated from China continue to use Chinese pools. Pooling, for instance, is a Chinese mining pool that continues to be a popular choice for BTC miners worldwide.

Despite only about 20% of mining data centers being located in China, a staggering 59% of the collective hash rate is routed through Chinese pools. This dominance can be attributed to several factors, including access to cheap electricity and hardware, and strategic partnerships.
